Our Leaders weigh in on Kinship Care

The Biden administration is proposing to formalize federal recommendations aimed at easing licensing standards for kinship foster homes in order to reduce the burden on family members caring for their relatives' children. Currently, the process of taking custody and accessing financial aid for the children can be very complex and lengthy. The proposed changes would allow state and local child welfare agencies to adopt different licensing standards for kinship caregivers. The goal is to support family bonds and cultural identity for children in foster care across America.
